2011 ! … Its not over yet!

Well, I’m sitting in the village, wondering what the final month of 2011 will bring to us. Indeed, 2011 has been a year of dramatic change all over the world; a kind of re-shuffling of the “has been’s”, that are now being replaced by the so-called “new bee’s”. Is the world sick and tired of how things have turned out ? Well, erm, I think the general answer is “Yes! We are!” … And so, we are blaming our governments for the way things have turned out, our debt, the crime, the pollution, and everything that is going on around us…

Europe, The middle East, Asia, America, Africa…. The entire globe seems to be in a state of asking “Hey, Something’s gotta give!” … and it also seems that by changing our governments that things will turn around and become, dare I say, better? … Somehow I think the devil we knew has left and we’re about to meet the new, smart, well spoken, educated … and more deceptive… same devil ! …

Food additives are not leaving, chemtrails are not leaving, taxes are increasing, laws are becoming tighter, the threat for war is becoming greater ! … so … On the grand-scale of things, personally, I do not think that governments will ever make things better … no matter how good they try to seem! …

We can however make a difference on a smaller scale… And maybe, and hopefully, the up-coming elections on December 18 for new village “bosses”, “mayors” … “kinotarchis” … or, more commonly called “mouchtars”… will also help to make a difference …

There are around 370 villages in Cyprus (including those in the Turkish occupied side)… and each village must elect a mouxtar and a new committee on the 18th of December … and Wow! … it’s as if there are 370 new little governments that will come into being before Christmas … and will remain for the next 5 years! …

The amazing thing is, … truly, every village has its different approaches, and each delegate his/her own method of vying people their way … some villages have 50 voters, others go into the thousands, but, the fervency for power is the same, if not greater than that of electing a new president…

In one village, the mouxtar has been in power for 15 years, and I think he may remain, because everyone knows how “gun happy” he is … truly, it seems that this little village is being run by a tyrant … and nothing much has really been done to improve or change the village over these past 15 years …

I heard a few days ago that in another village, another delegate is promising everyone a cow and ten chickens if they vote for him … and he will also arrange free bus tours around Cyprus and a new pergola at the local church…
